REGOLA PER SOPRAVVIVERE: il Ditino alzato!

(Italian version - At the bottom of the page the English version)

(Written on a particularly Autumn day) How dull the day is, just autumn. This year I like autumn, it seems to represent perfectly how I feel inside, melancholy, introverted, with little desire to join the general chatter about this fucking virus. But this subtle melancholy has something beautiful, an elegance of its own that transforms what could be a depression into something noble, which from a potential enemy becomes an ally, becomes an expression of yourself and thus you manage to find a kind of balance, in a totally unbalanced period. How much I miss some aspects of life before, yes, because there is a before and an after. Before and after Covid, AND AFTER EVERYTHING HAS CHANGED. What a desire I have to go and have an aperitif with my friends and my boyfriend to do idiots in via Castaldi, getting drunk just enough to bring out the most idiotic part in me. That I want to go for a run without worrying about getting too close to other people, that I want to go into a shop, try on a dress, look at a book cover, chat with the saleswoman, without having that fucking mask, feeling calm. What a desire I have to go to the super cool Chinese restaurant in via Rubens, where you eat like God, and how I miss the hugs and kisses, even the fake Diva ones, that you give each other here in Milan or rather that they gave each other. By the way, it's been 8 months that I haven't given my mother a kiss on the cheek, that I have not approached her within a meter. I miss the shows we did with the Baronessina, that absurdly tiring riot of costumes, lacquers and shoes in the improvised dressing rooms, always uncomfortable, always a total mess. I miss dinners, where we invited 10/12 people, where we danced, ate, chatted, neighbors, without worry. I miss closeness, even though I've never been a particularly outgoing person, physically speaking. I felt free, how much I feel forced today. But I'm not filled with anger, unlike a mountain of people. What do I get pissed off with a virus? Do I challenge him to a duel? He does his job, that of the virus. Perhaps we have given birth a little too much, 8 billion and perhaps the systematic environmental destruction we are carrying out has some correlation with the spread of the virus. Thoughts that pile up in the brain, I could blame the government, it would be easy, but setting in motion about a neuron and a half, I understand that those are trying to combine the health of citizens and avoid the collapse of the economy, not an easy thing. I think of the alternative to this government and I get goosebumps. What a kick to have Conte. Thoughts, a mountain of thoughts, I would never have thought of living in first person, the things I read in science fiction novels at 16.

I must say that on books it is better, reality is much heavier. I could deny the existence of the virus and say that it is all a conspiracy of capitalism, this too is easy, but God, I could no longer look in the mirror, it would be an offense to my intelligence, if there is one thing I am proud of it is my rationality, the reason that remains alive and lively to me. The general stupidity amazes me, but not only in Italy, all over the world. I was struck by the behavior of people on public transport in Milan. Until the end of September on the vehicles you had to avoid sitting nearby, there were all the stickers that said "stay here", then they removed them, 80% capacity and that's it. To me it seemed like a crazy shit and I continued to stand up, checking if there is at least a meter of distance between me and the others, and if the vehicle is crowded I get off and wait for the next one. The others sit quietly next to strangers, like 3 centimeters, just because the ordinance allows it. Bridge geniuses! Look, the virus is still there, just like in September, if they made a stupid ordinance, it's not that we can't assess the situation, that strange object we have between our ears has a function! God what an exhaustion, they remind me of some students who connect to the platforms to take the Microsoft Office course, using Open Office, and then they tell you Prof, but the commands I have are different, I can't follow it! But it goes, how strange, you think, two different programs that do not have the same commands, what times, where will we go ...

The truth is that you can no longer think as before, now the virus is there, and try at all costs to pretend that everything can be as before, it is a huge bullshit, nothing can be done as before. Who mourns the lost democracy, never, never once propose an alternative. If you ask him, but you were in government what would you do? Nothing, they slip away, they don't answer, or they ban you.

Sorry to say, but there is a certain analogy with war: an emergency situation, everyday life upset, not being able to have a normal life and the freedom to be able to walk around as you like and with whoever you like, only in war you do not go there to protest on the street, and in the evening there is a curfew, the bombs fall, you don't want to be an idiot, going on the street shouting "bombs don't exist anyway", "it's all a conspiracy of the strong powers ", No, you don't. You reorganize your life, trying to protect yourself, to find a way to maintain a certain degree of humanity, to eat every day and to be close to the people you love. Which is exactly what must be done even now, accept the situation and try to turn it to our advantage, whenever possible, where possible, while we wait for it to pass. "A da passà la nuttata", only it is a long "nuttata". If I think about how my Grandfather and my Great Aunt were, who had two world wars, fascism and even the years of lead and I have never seen in them that arrogance, that fragility, that lack of empathy, that hatred which instead I see widely today. Oh my God, humanity has always been pretty disgusting, but lately it seems to be exaggerating a bit, after all, it is almost two generations that we are inundated with television shit, where the wonderful message passes that the more arrogant, narcissistic, aggressive and above all ignorant you are a cool. TV first and social media later have cleared mediocrity and ignorance, transforming them into merits, and it is a profound thing, spread on all levels, in fact most of the characters in the limelight are like that. All this is extremely oppressive and tiring, having to protect yourself every day from people like this, and to be honest the virus is a problem and also serious, but what really makes everything ten times heavier is this climate of judgment and conformity that are truly terrifying, and pragmatically one has to find a way not to lose one's bearings, not to be swept away by this wave of shit that otherwise overwhelms you every day.

Consequently, the first rule to survive is NOT WATCH TV, obviously I'm not talking about a good film or yet another replica of Mrs. Fletcher, but about news, talks and even entertainment programs such as D’urso or De Filippi. That's why I love Netflix so much, you choose the contents, and they are of a much higher level than what TV offers. The second rule is to SPIN THE SOCIAL, massively banning dickheads, also because as Oscar Wilde says: don't argue with an idiot, he'll beat you with experience. Useless and great waste of energy, while our energies must be spent to find a balance, in the midst of total imbalance.

I am lucky, I don't mind staying at home, I have a partner with whom it is nice even to have to be locked inside, and my work is not bad, but I cannot deny that this situation has upset and I believe forever my work, the my world, my life and I have not the faintest idea what it will be like after, when this buriana is over. In the meantime, it makes me think that maybe it's time to stop always standing there with the little finger raised and really take care of ourselves, of our well-being and that of those around us, who have nothing to do with being selfish, it means taking care of your world. We hope that it will pass soon anyway and I am sure that the day they communicate the definitive demise of our much-hated Covid, it will be a celebration on a planetary level never seen in a few centuries.
